In 2017 they have rebranded\u00a0the plant offerings\u00a0into the new Bushel and Berry\u2122 Collection. Beside the old favorites, a new collection of edible berry plants are available at participating garden centers nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>I have successfully grown two\u00a0varieties on the sunny\u00a0portion of my deck here in northeast TN (USDA hardiness zone 6-b). The spring purchased\u00a0 plants bloomed and produce fruits which were delicious. The Bushel and Berry Collection are easy-to-grow and ask for very little maintenance other than watering and fertilizing. Disease and insects did not trouble me my first year. I can\u2019t promise that this will continue in future years. My plants were covered with cheese cloth as fruits began\u00a0ripening for bird-proofing.<\/p>\n<p>According to Layci Gragnani, program manager for Bushel and Berry, &#8220;the collection\u00a0has a new look reminiscent of the biodegradable berry baskets found at farmer\u2019s markets.&#8221;\u00a0 Currently, The Bushel and Berry collection includes seven varieties:<\/p>\n<p>Raspberry Shortcake\u00ae &#8211; <u>thornless<\/u> dwarf raspberry<\/p>\n<p>Peach Sorbet\u00ae blueberry \u2013 delicious fruits plus red fall leaf color<\/p>\n<p>Jelly Bean\u00ae blueberry \u2013dwarf plant with attractive red fall leaf color<\/p>\n<p>Blueberry Glaze\u00ae \u00a0&#8211; small dark berries and red fall leaf color.<\/p>\n<p>Pink Icing\u2122 blueberry \u2013 yummy fruits in summer and fall foliage<\/p>\n<p>Perpetua\u00ae blueberry &#8211; double cropping (2 harvest times)<\/p>\n<p>Baby Cakes\u2122 &#8211; thornless dwarf blackberry.<\/p>\n<p>Three growing tips (from me):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Repot in late winter to a slightly larger decorative pot and remove (prune) off old canes and any dead shoots.<\/li>\n<li>Fertilize with a water soluble products like Espoma\u2122 or Miracle-Gro\u2122 bi-monthly from March through August<\/li>\n<li>Place fine mesh netting over pot(s) as fruits begin to ripen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>*Star\u00ae Roses and Plants also markets the Knock Out\u00ae Family of Roses as well as Drift\u00ae Roses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in late 2016 Star\u00ae Roses and Plants* purchased the company formerly known as BrazelBerries\u00ae.
