Here is a select list of popular perennials endeared for their autumnal foliage hues.<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas bluestar (<em>Amsonia hubrichtii<\/em>) &#8211; stunning golden foliage beginning in late September.<\/p>\n<p>Bloody cranesbill (<em>Geranium sanguineum<\/em>) &#8211; geranium ground cover with reddish purple foliage color in October; <em>Geranium x<\/em> &#8216;Rozanne&#8217; foliage develops a bronze-red tint; <em>G. macrorrhizum<\/em> \u2018Ingwersen\u2019s Variety\u2019 &#8211; mixed foliage turns an attractive red color in fall.<\/p>\n<p>Jacob&#8217;s ladder (<i>Polemonium\u00a0<\/i>\u00a0&#8216;Bressingham Purple&#8217;) turns royal purple foliage in spring and fall; summer foliage is vibrantly green.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ferns (selected ferns) \u2013 Autumn fern (<em>Dryopteris erythrosora<\/em>), Royal fern (<em>Osmunda regalis<\/em>); Sensitive fern (<em>Onclea<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>Selected forms of sedums (<em>Sedum spp<\/em>.) develop yellow and orange shades in fall. example: <em>S.\u00a0 rupestre<\/em> &#8216;Angelina&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Bronze-leaf rodgersia (<i>Rodgersia podophylla<\/i>) takes on coppery red and yellows shades in the fall; annual fall color is highly variable.<\/p>\n<p>Dwarf Variegated Solomon seal (<em>Polygonatum odoratum<\/em> \u2018Variegatum&#8217;) is rarely recognized by gardeners.<\/p>\n<p>Leadwort (<em>Ceratastigma plumbaginoides<\/em>) &#8211; low mounding groundcover awakens very late in spring. Deep green leaves develop splashes of red in fall.
