Landscape Uses<\/strong>: single specimen, all\u00e9e, tall hedge, medium hedge, foundation plant, holiday foliage, containers. Choose any of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. \u2018Helmond Pillar\u2019 Barberry<\/strong> (Berberis thunbergii<\/em> \u2018Helmond Pillar\u2019) \u2013 deciduous shrub with a tight upright, columnar habit; features reddish-purple leaves (0.5 to 1.25 inches long) on spiny reddish brown stems.  Mature size: 4-5 feet tall and 1-2 feet wide; highly drought tolerant and deer resistant. Alternative<\/u>: \u2018Sunjoy\u2122 Golden Pillar\u2019<\/strong> Barberry<\/strong>– orange-red new foliage becomes bright gold in summer and orange-red in fall. Mature Size<\/strong>: 4 feet tall x 2 feet wide. USDA Hardiness<\/strong> zones: 4-9.<\/li>
  2. Roman Candle\u2122 Podocarpus <\/strong>(Podocarpus macrophyllus <\/em>\u2018Miu\u2019) – lovely Southern evergreen shrub with heat tolerant variegated creamy-white and green foliage; in a container, Roman Candle grows about 20 inches tall and 8 inches wide and is deer proof. Mature Size:<\/strong> 10-15 feet tall x 4-6 feet wide. Hardiness zones:<\/strong> 7b-10.<\/li>
  3. \u2018Sky Pencil\u2019 Holly <\/strong>(Ilex crenata<\/em>\u2018Sky Pencil\u2019) – narrow, dense, multi-branched, columnar evergreen shrub with a rounded form. Mature Size<\/strong>: 5-10 feet tall and 1-2 feet wide. Hardiness zones:<\/strong> 6-8.<\/li>
  4. \u2018Dee Runk\u2019 Boxwood <\/strong>(Buxus sempervirens<\/em> \u2018Dee Runk\u2019) -broad-leafed evergreen with a very narrow, upright, pyramidal habit; oval, 1 inch long dark-green leaves. Mature Size:<\/strong> 10-12 feet high and 2-3 feet wide. Hardiness zones: 6-8.<\/li>
  5. October Magic\u00ae camellia <\/strong>– fits the tight garden spaces; deep green glossy foliage year-round along with pure white flowers. Mature Size<\/strong>: 4\u20135 feet high x 3\u20134 feet wide. Hardiness zones<\/strong>: 7 to 9.<\/li>
  6. \u2018Blue Point\u2019 Juniper –<\/strong> maintains a dense, pyramidal form; prized for its lush blue-green foliage, looks good in formal garden landscape setting. Mature Size<\/strong>: 15 feet high x 3\u20135 feet wide. Hardiness zones<\/strong>: 4 to 9.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
