Crape myrtles \u00a0fall into four\u00a0size categories. Included here are\u00a0a sampling of the major cultivars based on popularity in the mid-South region (Northern Atlanta thru Eastern Maryland):<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Four Height Groups and Flower Color<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dwarf (less than 5 feet)<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8216;Pocomoke&#8217; &#8211; rose pink<br \/>\n&#8216;Berry Dazzle&#8217; &#8211; fuchsia<br \/>\n&#8216;Cherry Dazzle&#8217; &#8211; vibrant red<\/p>\n<p><strong>Semi-dwarf (5 to 12 feet)<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8216;Acoma&#8217; &#8211; pure white<br \/>\n&#8216;Dwarf Centennial&#8217; &#8211; lavender<br \/>\n&#8216;Hopi&#8217; &#8211; light pink<br \/>\n&#8216;Tonto&#8217; &#8211; fuchsia (red)<br \/>\n&#8216;Zuni&#8217; &#8211; medium lavender<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intermediate (13 to 20 feet)<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8216;Apalachee&#8217; &#8211; light lavender<br \/>\n&#8216;Dynamite&#8217; &#8211; cherry red<br \/>\n&#8216;Lipan&#8217; &#8211; medium lavender<br \/>\n&#8216;Osage&#8217; &#8211; light pink<br \/>\n&#8216;Sioux&#8217; &#8211; dark pink<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tree type (23 feet and higher)<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8216;Carolina Beauty&#8217; &#8211; dark pink<br \/>\n&#8216;Muskogee&#8217; &#8211; light lavender<br \/>\n&#8216;Natchez&#8217; &#8211; white<br \/>\n&#8216;Tuscarora&#8217; &#8211; dark coral pink<br \/>\n&#8216;Tuskegee&#8217; &#8211; dark pink, almost red<\/p>\n<p><strong>New crape myrtle series:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Black Diamond<a href=\"https:\/\/whatgrowsthere.com\/grow\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_8009.jpg\">\u2122<\/a>\u00a0Series &#8211; 10 to 12 feet high and 8 feet spread with almost black foliage. Currently there are 9 cultivars ranging from red shades, pink shades, white, purple, and lavender.<\/p>\n<p>Magic Series<a href=\"https:\/\/whatgrowsthere.com\/grow\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_8009.jpg\">\u2122<\/a> from First Editions\u00ae is a selection of intermediate size crape myrtles with glossy\u00a0disease-free foliage; they bloom all summer into fall and hold their leaves until late.
