Unlike mophead hydrangeas (<em>H. macrophylla<\/em>), that\u00a0often fail in\u00a0full day sun,\u00a0PGs excel in 6\u00a0hours or more of sun.<\/p>\n<p>PG\u00a0hydrangeas are vigorous growers with upright branching\u00a0and\u00a0coarse textured deciduous foliage. Depending on variety, shrubs grow\u00a03-15 feet (some to\u00a025 feet) tall. Multi-branched shoots are clothe with dark green, oval shaped\u00a0leaves and are topped with\u00a0upright, sharply-pointed, conical, 6-8 inch long terminal flower panicles. Flowers may be a mix of both fertile and sterile florets and\u00a0bloom from mid-summer into fall. PG hydrangeas are pruned any time from late fall to mid-spring. They\u00a0may also be trained into a tree form.<\/p>\n<p>Most gardeners today know PGs by the best selling cultivar <strong>&#8216;Limelight&#8217; <\/strong>which has become the standard for excellence.
