Most popular cultivars\u00a0are &#8216;Limelight&#8217;, &#8216;Little Lime, &#8216;Quickfire&#8217;, &#8216;Vanilla Strawberry&#8217;, &#8216;Diamond Rouge&#8217;, &#8216;Bobo&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Bigleaf hydrangeas (<em>Hydrangea macrophylla<\/em>) &#8211; \u00a0Bloomstruck\u00ae series, Endless Summer\u00ae series, LA Dreamin\u00ae, &#8216;Nikko Blue&#8217;, Lets Dance\u00ae Diva\u00a0collection are among the winter hardiest to date<\/p>\n<p>Chastetree (<em>Vitex agnus-castus<\/em>) -10-15 feet shrub in color choices ranging from purple (also lavender, pink and white) blooming; new dwarf 5-8 feet cultivars are coming to garden centers in near\u00a0future. The current popular forms are\u00a0&#8216;Shoals Creek&#8217;, &#8216;Montrose Purple&#8217; and &#8216;Woodlander&#8217;s White&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Summer sweetshrub (<em>Clethra alnifolia<\/em>), aka sweet pepperidge is an absolute bee favorite in my garden. Popular cultivars include &#8216;Sixteen Candles&#8217;, &#8216;Rosea&#8217;, and &#8216;Hummingbird&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Flowering abelia (<em>Abelia x grandifolia<\/em>) &#8211; choose old-fashioned shrubs @ 12-15 feet;, modern compact cultivars at 4-6\u00a0feet such as \u00a0Rose Creek\u00ae, &#8216;Mardi Gras&#8217;, Canyon Creek\u00ae,and &#8216;Ed Goucher&#8217;; low growing types \u00a02-3 feet bsuch as Kaleidoscope\u00ae, &#8216;Confettii&#8217;, &#8216;Sherwood&#8217;\u00a0.<\/p>\n<p>Altheas or Rose of Sharon (<em>Hibiscus syriacus<\/em>) -choose from Chiffon\u00ae series, &#8216;Blue Bird&#8217;, Roman Goddess series from U.S. National Arboretum (Aphrodite&#8217;, &#8216;Minerva&#8217;, &#8216;Diana&#8217;, and &#8216;Helene&#8217;).<\/p>\n<p>Crape myrtles (<em>Lagerstroemia x<\/em>) &#8211; white, pink, rosy-pink, lavender, and red crape myrtles; available to four size catergories: tree (26-30 feet), intermediate (13 -20 feet), semi-dwarf (5-12 feet), and dwarf (3-5 feet).<\/p>\n<p>Bluebeard shrubs (<em>Carypteris x clandonensis<\/em>) &#8211; small 2-3 feet high compact shrub that bloom from mid-summer into fall .
