This exceptionally cold hardy\u00a0hydrangea blooms from late June thru early September.\u00a0Blooms are\u00a0enormous\u00a0and stand\u00a0upright.\u00a0Following a heavy summer shower, saturated floral\u00a0trusses temporarily bow down under\u00a0their sheer weight, but gradually recover.<\/p>\n<p>Flower color varies\u00a0with age: new blooms\u00a0open green, turn creamy white,\u00a0to blushing pink, and\u00a0finish rosy pink! New blooms\u00a0are produced over\u00a03 months. Cut flowers\u00a0make great additions to\u00a0fresh and dried floral arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>Vanilla Strawberry is a\u00a0vigorous grower and low-maintenance.\u00a0Shrub is a well-branched and\u00a0reaches 6 to 7 feet high and 4 to 5 feet wide in\u00a0only\u00a02-3 years.\u00a0Grow panicle (&#8220;peegee&#8221;) hydrangeas in full sun in zones 6 and further north; in southerly climes, provide full morning sunlight and moderate afternoon shade. \u00a0Hydrangeas thrives in moist, well-drained soil. Feed hydrangeas in early spring with a season-long slow-release fertilizer.\u00a0 Apply 2-3 inches of an organic mulch in the spring to conserve soil moisture. Irrigate\u00a0during long summer dry spells.<\/p>\n<p>Peegee hydrangeas look great as a deciduous hedge, or scattered in an open woodland garden, or as an individual specimen shrub. \u00a0It can also be trained as a single trunk tree. They are troubled by few disease or pest problems. Since they bloom on current season&#8217;s wood, prune in late winter to reduce plant height and spread and to remove weak thin branches.
